Sharon McKeen

I am a retired manager from the Federal Public Service of Canada. I enjoyed a long career spanning 34 years in various leadership roles, firmly establishing myself as an effective leader.

My professional story can be explored below, but here I want to tell you WHY I am passionate about transforming leaders.

The modules in this leadership course came after a life-changing hike near Mirror Lake in Lake Louise, Alberta (pic shown below), during a wellness retreat in October 2022.

You see, what some of you may not know, is that I had to abruptly end my career as a middle manager due to medical reasons.

One day I stood up from my desk (working remotely from home due to COVID) and I was under the impression that ‘I just needed a few days off to rest sort of thing’ but it turned out that I never went back. My doctor highly recommended me to retire from a cardiovascular perspective and I was fortunately able to do so. I now support, as a Peer Leader, the Women @ Heart program but that’s a story for another time.

One year later, I wanted to honor the ending of my career in a different way and give back to the community of managers.

I loved being a manager and I think managers have very challenging jobs so I wanted to be able to share my passion and expertise to help empower managers and build strong leadership.

I am overjoyed to share this collection of modules - “Empowering Managers, Guiding the Journey to Excellence and Great Leadership.”

    An exceptional aspect of Sharon's career is her remarkable ability to manage multi-million dollar budgets, meticulously ensuring that projects are delivered punctually and within the defined financial constraints. Her unwavering commitment to achieving objectives while judiciously utilizing assigned resources has been instrumental in her consistent success.

    Moreover, Sharon has proven herself adept at assembling and nurturing teams from scratch, an arduous task that she admirably accomplishes by translating a mere mandate on paper into a dynamic vision for the future. Her leadership skills have been pivotal in inspiring her teams to contribute their utmost and collectively achieve remarkable outcomes.
